After two decades shaping the sound of other artists and film composers, Lewis Morison steps into his own light with his debut solo album There’s A Place For Us, a luminous collection of electronica that bridges the worlds of ambient texture, intricate rhythm, and emotional resonance.
Morison has spent over twenty years as a film music editor, producer and mixer, collaborating with some of the most acclaimed voices in contemporary composition, from Mica Levi on her Oscar-nominated score for Jackie, to Ben Frost on Netflix’s Dark, and Alexandre Desplat on The Danish Girl & Pinocchio. Having helped realise the visions of others, There’s A Place For Us marks a turning point: a deeply personal statement and a search for creative selfhood.
“The title speaks to the idea that there’s a place for everyone to exist, to be yourself, to find your purpose,” says Morison. “I wanted to make something that allows listeners to close their eyes and feel safe, to be who they are.”
Across ten tracks, Morison crafts a sonic landscape where analog synths, guitars and drum machines intertwine in delicate balance. From the expansive pulse of “The Sixth Place” and the melodic optimism of “Dreamers”, to the reflective closer “Waiting For You”, the album flows with both precision and warmth, a reflection of his years immersed in cinematic sound design, now channelled into personal expression.
The album’s artwork features a painting by Scottish artist Daniel Mullen, whose geometric abstraction mirrors the record’s evolving tonal structures and emotional gradients. The result is a body of work that feels both architectural and intimate, music for introspection, movement, and connection.
There’s A Place For Us is out now and available on Spotify, Apple Music and all major streaming platforms.
